The lack of metal between stones allows the hue to dominate, turning the piece into a solid field of pigment. The delicate gold rails beneath the stones can be bent if subjected to sharp impacts, and once a single wire is deformed, the entire setting may loosen. Cleaning should be gentle — a soft brush and mild soapy water, avoiding ultrasonic machines that might vibrate the stones out of their channels. When stored, keep it alone in a padded box or a soft pouch to prevent neighbouring jewellery from catching on the flush surface.
